Poll strategist Prashant Kishor meets Mamata Banerjee at Nabanna

Speculations are on whether cleansing the TMC of corruption is Kishor’s strategy.

Poll strategist Prashant Kishor meets Mamata Banerjee at Nabanna

Poll strategist Prashant Kishor met West Bengal chief minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee at the state administrative headquarters, Nabanna, on Thursday afternoon.

Banerjee’s nephew, the Diamond Harbour MP was also present at the meeting. Kishor and the two Trinamool Congress leaders had a meeting for over an hour today, after which Kishor left Nabanna with the junior Banerjee.

Kishor, credited with the success of a large number of political bigwigs in the country, including Narendra Modi, Nitish Kumar and more recently YSR Congress chief Jagan Reddy’s sweep in the elections in Andhra Pradesh, has been assigned the job of strategising for the Trinamool Congress with an eye on the 2021 state elections in Bengal.

After Trinamool Congress’ rather unexpected, poor performance in the Lok Sabha polls, Banerjee got into an agreement with Prashant Kishor earlier this month.

It is being speculated that the Trinamool Congress’ massive drive to cleanse the party of corrupt practises by its leaders at various levels, is one of the first strategies that the party is working on as per Kishor’s advice. He has also met Trinamool Congress MPs in New Delhi recently and noted the way MPs work in their respective constituencies.

Banerjee is being seen publicly as much more calm and handling difficult situations without losing her cool these days, leading to speculations that this too may perhaps be a way the poll strategist is working on her image, and suggesting ways to project a new Trinamool Congress in the coming days.
