Presidential poll: Mamata Banerjee calls for meeting with Opposition leaders on June 15

West Bengal chief minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee on Saturday wrote to Opposition leaders across the country seeking their attendance in a meeting on June 15 in Delhi to prepare strategies for the upcoming presidential poll. The meeting will be held at 3 pm in Constitution hall in Delhi.

Trinamool Congress said that “Our hon’ble chairperson @MamataOfficial calls upon all progressive opposition forces to meet and deliberate on the future course of action keeping the Presidential elections in sight, at the Constitution Club, New Delhi on June 15 2022 at 3 PM.”

Poll for the President of India will be held on July 18, according to the announcement made by the Election Commission, with 4,809 members of the electoral college comprising MPs and MLAs to elect the next President after Ram Nath Kovind.

A party statement of the Trinamool Congress also said that “With the Presidential election around the corner, Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee, with an initiative of strong and effective opposition against the divisive forces, has reached out to the opposition Chief Ministers and leaders to participate in a joint meeting.”
