Shashi Tharoor says India will become “Hindu Pakistan” if BJP is re-elected, BJP demands apology

Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on Tuesday said India will become an extremist country like Pakistan if Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is back in power in the next year’s general election.

At an event in his Lok Shobha constituency, Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram, Tharoor said BJP will rewrite the Constitution in their own way and make India intolerant. He said the Constitution would include hardcore principles of Hindu Rashtra.

Tharoor added that the BJP will try to create a “Hindu Pakistan” which wouldn’t follow the ideologies of India for what Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Patel, Maulana Azad struggled during Independence.

BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said Congress president Rahul Gandhi should apologise for such a comment.
