Sonia Gandhi being questioned by ED today

Congress leaders protested what they said was "misuse of ED".

Congress president Sonia Gandhi reached the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) headquarters in Delhi today for questioning in an alleged money laundering case. She was accompanied by her children Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi. Sonia Gandhi was recently diagnosed with Covid. It is reported that at least five officers will be present for the questioning, including an additional director level officer.

Congress leaders were seen carrying banners saying “stop misuse of ED”, marching inside the Parliament complex. Congress leaders said that earlier Rahul Gandhi was questioned for five days, for over 50 hours and the entire country watched it, and “now today, Sonia Gandhi has been summoned, and the country will watch this. She has been a leader who has won hearts of the country”.

The BJP criticised the Congress’ protests. Earlier, a meeting chaired by the Congress was held to discuss “relentless political vendetta” by the Centre. It was attended by 13 Opposition parties. The ED is probing the role of the Gandhis in the case involving the Young Indian’s takeover of the Associated Journals Limited, the company that ran the National Herald newspaper.
