Trinamool Congress MP Dinesh Trivedi announced his resignation in Rajya Sabha on Friday. “I am resigning from Rajya Sabha today. There is violence taking place in my state and we cannot speak anything here,” said Trivedi. He said further that “it feels unnatural for me to sit quietly when there is so much violence in my State. I am part of a party and so bound by party discipline. I feel suffocated,” he added.
Trivedi, considered a close confidant of Mamata Banerjee, had served as the Railway Minister in the UPA II government.
With this dramatic resignation, there are now speculations of him joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), although no such confirmation has been made so far.
