Trinamool MP Satabdi Roy to join BJP? Speculations after her social media post
Roy is the MP from Birbhum seat
Speculations were rife since Thursday evening that Trinamool Congress Member of Parliament Satabdi Roy may join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after a post was shared on a Facebook page indicated she is unhappy with her party.
The Facebook page – Satabdi Roy Fans’ Club – shared a post attributing it to the Trinamool MP to state that despite working hard for 10 years, she was not able to work enough for the people of her constituency due to some stumbling blocks. While she did not make clear what these impediments were, she later told the media: “When I want to go but can’t then why should I allow myself to be criticised? I have worked hard for 10 years.” Roy said she is going to Delhi on Saturday.
In the Facebook post, this is what she said: “People are asking why I am absent from some programmes. I do want to be present in all programmes but I feel that some people don’t want me to be around the people of my constituency. I am not aware of when some programmes are organised. If I am not aware of these, how can I be present in those events? These things upset me, I have given more time to the people than to my home. I am trying to take a decision to be with people all the time. I am grateful to the people of my constituency and I hope they will continue to shower me with love. Whatever the decision I take, I will make it public on January 16, at 2 pm.”
Reacting to this, Birbhum district president of the Trinamool Congress, Anubrata Mondol said: “Who has stopped her? How could she walk with Didi at the recent programme in Bolpur, if she was not allowed to participate in party programmes?”
