An Uttar Pradesh minister has made a controversial statement saying that the Ram temple in Ayodhya will be built “since the Supreme Court is ours”.
Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Mukut Bihari Verma, the cooperative minister in Yogi Adityanath’s government has said: “The BJP has come to power on the issue of development but Ram Mandir will be constructed as it is our determination. The matter is in Supreme Court and the Supreme Court is ours. The judiciary, administration, the nation as well as the Ram Temple belong to us,” Verma was quoted saying.
The decision on the Ram temple is pending in the Supreme Court. A special bench is hearing 14 appeals filed against an Allahabad High Court judgment of 2010.
