Rajya Sabha chairperson M Venkaiah Naidu today broke down in the house while reading out a statement condemning what he said was “sacrilege” and “violation” in the “temple of democracy” by the Opposition.
The Opposition MPs on Tuesday had climbed the tables of officials in Rajya Sabha, waving black flags, threw files, many standing on tables, during a discussion on the farmer protests over the newly introduced central laws.
Naidu said that he was “distressed by the way the sacredness was destroyed yesterday… I have no words to convey my anguish and to condemn such acts as I spent a sleepless night.. last night.”
