Yashwant Sinha, Arun Shourie will appeal to the Supreme Court to review Rafale order

Former Union ministers Yashwant Sinha, Arun Shourie and advocate Prashant Bhushan will move the Supreme Court to seek a review of the December 14 Rafale judgment. The Supreme Court, in its December 14 verdict had ruled that there was no need to conduct probe into the details of pricing in the Rafale deal.

Sinha, Shourie and Bhushan are seeking an oral hearing in an open court for their review plea. Their petition states that the judgment relies on claims made by the government that had been made in an unsigned note submitted to the court in a sealed cover. The petition also states that several new facts have also come to light.

The Supreme Court judgment of December 14 had cleared the government that has been repeatedly questioned by the opposition Congress of corruption in the Rafale deal.

The court rejected a probe and dismissed petitions that had alleged that the government had opted for an overpriced deal to help Anil Ambani’s company. The Supreme Court bench, headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi, had said that there was no need to conduct investigation into the details of the pricing.
