Nobody saw this coming  not even those who had been tracking every update on the Yuvasathi scheme for weeks. First the government said money would start flowing from August 15, 2026. Then Mamata Banerjee surprised everyone by pulling it forward to April 1. And today, March 7, 2026, she went one step further. Standing at the iconic Dharmatala dharna stage in Kolkata, the Chief Minister made a jaw-dropping announcement: Yuvasathi money will start being credited to bank accounts from today itself.

For lakhs of unemployed youth across West Bengal who applied for the Banglar Yuva Sathi scheme between February 15 and 26, this is the moment they had been waiting for. The ₹1,500 monthly allowance  meant to support educated jobseekers aged 21 to 40  is no longer a future promise. It is happening right now.

What Mamata Banerjee Announced From Dharmatala  The Exact Update

On the morning of March 7, 2026, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee addressed the public from the Dharmatala dharnamanch  a symbolically powerful platform where she has made several landmark announcements over the years. Today’s declaration was no different. She confirmed that those whose Yuvasathi applications have been approved will see the first installment of ₹1,500 credited directly into their Aadhaar-linked bank accounts starting today  weeks ahead of the previously announced April 1 date.

This is the third time the government has moved the goalposts  and this time, in the most positive direction possible. The timeline of the scheme tells its own story: originally planned for August 15, 2026 (Independence Day), it was first advanced to April 1 to match the new financial year, and now Mamata has pushed it all the way to March 7. This kind of urgency, rare in government scheme rollouts, has immediately created celebration and relief among the youth of Bengal.

Has Your Application Been Approved? How to Check Right Now

The most important question on everyone’s mind right now is: “Is my application approved?” Here is the step-by-step process to check your Yuvasathi application status online:

Step 1: Go to the official portal  https://apas.wb.gov.in

Step 2: On the homepage, click on the Yuvasathi option.

Step 3: Click on the “Check Status” option that appears on screen.

Step 4: Enter the mobile number you used while applying, along with the captcha.

Step 5: Click on “Get OTP”  an OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number.

Step 6: Enter the OTP to verify. If your application has been entered into the system, you will see your Application Number or Registration Number on screen. You can also view and even print your application form directly from here.

Important note for offline applicants: If you submitted a physical form at a Duare Sarkar camp and cannot see your status yet, do not panic. Offline forms require data entry by officials, and due to the sheer number of applications  over 84 lakh were received in total  some forms are still being digitised. Your application is not lost. You do not need to reapply. Give it a little more time, and your name will show up.

Who Gets the Money Today  And Who Has to Wait?

The first wave of payments today will go to those whose applications have already been approved and entered into the government system. Beneficiaries must be between 21 and 40 years of age, must have passed the Madhyamik (Class 10) exam, must be residents of West Bengal, and must be currently unemployed. Crucially, those already receiving Lakshmir Bhandar or other state government welfare benefits are not eligible  but scholarship holders under Aikyasree, Medhasree, or Swami Vivekananda Merit schemes are still fully eligible.

The ₹1,500 amount will be transferred directly through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system  straight from the state government treasury to your Aadhaar-linked bank account. No agents, no middle steps. The government has set aside ₹5,000 crore in the 2026-27 budget to sustain this scheme, and each beneficiary is entitled to up to five years of monthly support, or until they secure employment  whichever comes first.

What to Do If You Haven’t Received the Money Yet

Not everyone will receive the payment on the very first day  and that is perfectly normal. The government processes payments in batches, and a large number of applications are still being verified. If you applied and your status shows as approved, ensure your bank account details are correct, your Aadhaar is linked to your account, and your registered mobile number is active. Payments are expected to be released on or before the 10th of each month going forward.

If you face any issues or have questions, reach out to the official government helplines: 18003450117 or 033-22140152. The government has also set up an emergency helpdesk specifically to handle payout-related queries.
