Trinamool MP Derek O’Brien says Centre “owes” Bengal ₹60,000 crore, appeals to other non-BJP state govts to give their figures

Trinamool Congress MP Derek O’Brien on Thursday said that the Union government “owes” West Bengal government ₹60,000 crore. He urged all non-BJP run state governments to put out  corresponding figures in their states too.

“The Union Government OWES Bengal ₹60 thousand crores. Urging all non-BJP State governments to put out their figures too. Expose the sham in the name of ‘cooperative federalism’,” O’Brien wrote on Twitter. He also listed the following the explain:

*Budget 2020-21 Union Govt devolution of Central taxes for Bengal was ₹58,962.55 crore

The Trinamool Congress-run government on Wednesday placed the ₹3,08,727 crore budget for 2021-22 in the West Bengal Assembly – which had welfare schemes, infrastructure, special rebate on stamp duty and amendments in road tax as its main highlights.
