Opposition parties back consensus candidate for Rajya Sabha deputy chairman

At a meeting in the office of Opposition leader Ghulam Nabi Azad at Parliament House, opposition parties agreed to have a consensus candidate who has acceptance among all political parties.

Although the name of Trinamool Congress leader Sukhendu Sekhar Roy was surfacing in political circles, Roy made it clear that his party would not field any candidate but it will extend support to the consensus candidate.
