Congress president Rahul Gandhi will address a rally in Malda on March 23 as part of the Lok Sabha election campaign.

The Congress party authorities in West Bengal said this on Saturday, adding that Rahul Gandhi’s presence will be a boost for the Congress in the district, that has long been a stronghold of the party.

Recently, the party’s Malda (North) Lok Sabha parliamentarian Mausam Noor, has joined the Trinamool Congress. The Trinamool has already announced that she will be the party’s candidate from Malda (North).

Rahul Gandhi’s presence, the Congress leaders feel, will give encouragement and enthusiasm to the workers in the district. Congress won four Lok Sabha seats from West Bengal in 2014 – Malda Uttar, Malda Dakshin, Baharampur and Jangipur.
