BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya’s son Akash beats civic official with cricket bat

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kailash Vijayvargiya’s son, Akash – a first time BJP legislator from Indore – was seen attacking a civic body official in the city with a cricket bat on Wednesday. Akash Vijayvargiya represents the seat Indore-3.

Police authorities were said to be registering a first information report against Akash Vijayvargiya and some of his supporters who were with him.

The young, first time BJP legislator was seen in a video attacking the official in presence of his supporters, police officials and a television crew.

Dhirendra Byas and Asit Khare – two civic body officials – were leading a team of civic body workers during an anti-encroachment drive at Ganji Compound area of Indore city when they were confronted by Akash Vijayvargiya and his men. The latter asked the two officials to leave within five minutes or face the music.

He is seen in the video threatening the officials saying, “after that whatever happens will be your responsibility.” Within a short time, there was an argument and attack, in which Akash Vijayvargiya is seen attacking the officials with a cricket bat as some people surrounding him try to stop him.

Later, Akash Vijayvargiya was quoted telling journalists that he had given the officials time to leave and it was his responsibility to sort things out as he was an elected representative. He was quoted saying that the civic body officials were engaged in dadagiri and had refused to listen. “I was very angry. I don’t remember what I did,” he was quoted saying.
