Mamata Banerjee’s brother duped in online purchase, files police complaint

Ajit Banerjee – chief minister Mamata Banerjee’s brother and chairman of the Bengal Olympic Association – has lodged a complaint with Kalighat police station for being duped in an online purchase.

He was cheated of Rs 10,862 – that got deducted from his bank account – and has lodged a complaint with the police station on September 1 against unknown persons, it was reported by Bartaman newspaper.

Banerjee had ordered a toy for his grandchild on August 29, which cost Rs 820. He had paid for the toy online through his bank card. However, after that, small amounts kept getting deducted from his account 13 times and amounted to a total of Rs 10,862.95. Banerjee then decided to lodge a complaint with Kalighat police station on September 1.

Apart from the case being investigated by the Kalighat police station, Lalbazar detective department officers are also looking into the case, the newspaper has reported.
