Terming former India president and Congress veteran Pranab Mukherjee’s visit to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) headquarters in Nagpur on Thursday ‘a significant event in India’s contemporary history’, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) senior leader L. K. Advani applauded Mukherjee for emphasizing the importance of plurality and diversity in India.
Advani also thanked Mukherjee for the latter’s generosity in accepting the invitation as well as lauding RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat for setting such an example of dialogue. He said both leaders had promoted the essence of unity and diversity in India.
He said it did not surprise him as he was well aware of Mukherjee’s faith in dialogue and cooperation among people of various ideological and political backgrounds.
