Amidst rising tensions over Pulwama, ‘Pakistan will retaliate if India attacks’ says Imran Khan

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has stated  that his country ‘will not think of retaliating, it will retaliate’ if attacked by India.

In the middle of scaling tensions between the two neighbouring countries over the Pulwama terror strike where over 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed by a suicide bomber deployed by Jaish-e-Mohammed – a terrorist outfit based in Pakistan, Imran Khan attributed all the talk emerging out of India on waging war against Pakistan to propaganda before elections.

Denying any involvement of his country in the Pulwama attack, the Pakistan Prime Minister stated that his country would have no ‘option’ but to ‘retaliate’ if attacked by India. In a video interview to a news agency, Imran Khan asked for India to share any ‘actionable intelligence’ it may have to bring the guilty to book. Adding that his government will take action against those guilty not because Pakistan is under pressure but because the perpetrators are ‘enemies’ of Pakistan,  the Pakistan PM stated that his country was moving towards ‘stability’.

Alleging that India was ‘accusing Pakistan without any evidence’, Imran Khan pointed out that the attack coincided with the visit of the crown prince of Saudi Arabia to his country. No ‘fool would sabotage’ such an ‘ important event’, he said.

India has already withdrawn the Most Favoured Nation status of Pakistan after the Pulwama attack.
