Bengal govt didn’t import COVID-19, no need to hide data: Trinamool Congress

Trinamool Congres leader Sudip Bandyopadhyay on Wednesday said that West Bengal government hasn’t imported Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) to the state, so it has no need to hide data or information on it. He was addressing a press conference and responded to the Opposition allegations that the state government is fudging data on COVID-19.
Trinamool Congress leaders Derek O’Brien and Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar were also present at the press conference.
Bandyopadhyay said that the state government is holding press conferences daily to present data on COVID-19 to people while no other state is doing so on a regular basis. The state government is thus “very transparent” about matters related to COVID-19, he added.
Ghosh Dastidar said that the Centre had rejected their repeated requests to stop all international flights to India even before the first case was reported in the country resulting in the spread of COVID-19 here. She alleged that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is running a “fake news production factory” for maligning the government Bengal in its fight against COVID-19.
