COVID: 1,59,632 new cases in India in a day

3,623 cases of Omicron reported across the country.

There has been a single-day rise of 1,59,632 new coronavirus cases in India. This has raised the total number of cases to 3,55,28,004, including 3,623 cases of Omicron reported across 27 states and union territories. An increase of 1,18,442 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 cases in 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry data.

The daily positivity rate was 10.21 per cent while the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 6.77 per cent. Meanwhile, over 2 crore teenagers between 15-18 years have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine already.

There has also been a single-day jump of 616 Omicron cases, and India now has 3,623 cases of the new variant. Maharashtra has the most – 1,009 cases – followed by Delhi with 513 infections. Maharashtra, one of the worst-hit states by the Covid pandemic, has announced new restrictions. Thirteen people died in the last 24 hours – five of them in Mumbai.
