Former Trinamool MP Dinesh Trivedi to join the BJP

Trivedi had resigned in Parliament on February 12

Former Union Railway Minister and Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP who resigned in Parliament on February 12, will join the Bharatiya Janata Party today. He is expected to be at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally in Kolkata’s Brigade Parade Ground on Sunday.

Trivedi had resigned dramatically during a Parliament session, saying he was unhappy with the way the Trinamool Congress is being run. He also said that the reasons for quitting the Trinamool Congress was “ethical”. While he did not name anyone, it is believed that he was miffed with Trinamool’s poll strategist Prashant Kishor, as he had said that the party was being run by corporate professionals.

At the time of resignation and thereafter, Trivedi did not say what his next course of action would be, but he had mentioned that he was on good terms with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The BJP’s leaders from West Bengal too had said that they would “welcome” him.
