The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall in large parts of north India including Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Telengana and Maharashtra’s Vidharbha area. The IMD said a depression had formed in northwestern Bay of Bengal that would cause heavy rainfall.

Alert has been issued for fishermen to not venture into the sea, and states have been asked to keep ready boats, divers and other rescue operations in case the heavy rainfall leads to flood or floor like situations.
