July-August schedule for Madhyamik & Higher Secondary in Bengal

July-August schedule for Madhyamik & Higher Secondary in Bengal

The schedule for Madhyamik and Higher Secondary examinations in West Bengal has been announced on Thursday.

Chief minister Mamata Banerjee said at a press conference that Higher Secondary examinations for class XII will be held in the last week of July and Madhyamik examinations for class X will be held in the second week of August. Both board examinations – organised by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Examinations and West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Examinations – were postponed due to the devastating second wave of COVID-19 pandemic.

Usually, the class X exams are scheduled before the class XII exams, but this time it is being changed as the class XII students are expected to appear for other competitive examinations across the country and abroad. The duration for both examinations has been reduced to an hour and a half. Though board examinations are held in other schools for students, this time students will appear for exams in their own school.

There are over 12 lakh students appearing for Madhyamik exams this year. While they will appear for the compulsory papers, the optional subject will be marked by schools. The details of schedule will be issued by the Board and Council soon.
