Mamata Banerjee tweets on CDS’s chopper crash

West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee took to Twitter to write on the “extremely tragic news coming in from Coonoor”, today.

An army chopper carrying Chief of Defence Staff Bipin Rawat and 13 others crashed today in Tamil Nadu, the Indian Air Force said. The crash was reported at around 12.20 pm. So far, five bodies have been found and four have been taken to the hospital with severe burn injuries. Further details are awaited.

Banerjee concluded her administrative meeting in Malda earlier today on receiving the news. Later, she wrote on Twitter: “Extremely tragic news coming in from Coonoor. Today, the entire nation prays for the safety of those who were onboard including CDS Bipin Rawat and his family members. Also praying for the speedy recovery of everyone who was injured.”
