Mamata Banerjee’s Delhi trip as per schedule

A Trinamool Congress insider said there was “saffron pressure” behind cancellation of some programmes.

Mamata Banerjee’s Delhi trip as per schedule

West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee’s visit to Delhi on August 1, Tuesday, will go as per schedule, though her visit to Delhi University’s St. Stephen’s College was cancelled.

A Trinamool Congress supporter told ANI that the event was cancelled to “saffron pressure”. He said that the RSS and the BJP were trying to suppress Banerjee’s moves since she was giving them a tough time.

An event in Chicago – which Mamata Banerjee was scheduled to attend – was cancelled earlier, and now the programme at St Stephen’s was cancelled too. This had led some to believe that the saffron pressure had some role in this, though the person quoted said that the Bengal CM could not be silenced so easily.
