Man suspected to be thief, lynched in Kolkata’s Manicktala

A young man was found dead in the premises of a local club in Kolkata’s Manicktala area this afternoon. According to the information available, he had been lynched by local people, though the reason remains unknown so far.

Police reached the Muchipara area under Manicktala police station area on Wednesday afternoon on receiving information that a young man had been beaten up and locked inside the premises of a local “cultural association” club. They found the severely injured person inside and he was declared dead when taken to the hospital.

According to some reports, the young man was caught on the basis of suspicion that he was trying to steal some clothes from a local shop. He was then taken to the club premises, beaten up and was left there with the door locked from outside.
