Modi says those who looted the nation have him to ‘fear’
Speaking in the Lok Sabha on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reasserted his government’s “commitment towards recovering black money” and bringing the guilty to book. Replying to a debate on the motion of thanks to the President’s address, the Prime Minister stated that those who have looted the country see their nemesis in him.
In an all-out attack on the Congress party, Modi accused them of allowing the looting of banks during their years in power. This has resulted in an increase in the number of Non-Performing Assets, the Prime Minister noted. Adding that his government continues to maintain a ‘zero tolerance’ policy towards black money, Modi stated that he carried dogged determination towards the process unlike the Congress which was embroiled in scandals. He stated that he had ‘no liabilities’ unlike the Opposition which showed ‘involvement’ in other things.
In a veiled reference to Vijay Mallya who faces default charges to the tune of Rs. 9000 crores and is currently in UK, the Prime Minister stated that while the Opposition party had allowed the looting to take place under its watch, it had fallen upon his government to bring the guilty back to India. Attacking the opposition, the Prime Minister also added that had the opposition parties in the past extended their support to former prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the nation would have scaled great heights.
