Several social media users reported today that the official website of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was down and unavailable, while others claimed that it had been hacked.
While no one has claimed responsibility for it, and neither was there any official statement on it, the website was seen with the message: “We’ll be back soon,” adding, “Sorry for the inconvenience but we’re performing some maintenance at the moment. We’ll be back online shortly!”
There were screenshots of the alleged hacked site shared that showed a meme of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
Congress’ Twitter manager Divya Spandana tweeted about it, saying: “Bhaiya aur Behno if you’re not looking at the BJP website right now – you’re missing out!”
Observations by Opposition party leaders and spokespersons were dripping with sarcasm at this sudden development. Aam Admi Party spokeperson, Saurabh Bhardwaj tweeted: “The IT experts who claim EVMs can’t be hacked saw their party’s website hacked. But don’t ask for proof”.
