Prashant Kishor declines offer to join Congress

Randeep Singh Surjewala & Kishor took to Twitter to announce the decision.

Political strategist Prashant Kishor has declined the Congress’s offer to join the party as part of an Empowered Action Group (EAG).

Party spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala, wrote on Twitter: “Following a presentation & discussions with Sh. Prashant Kishor, Congress President has constituted a Empowered Action Group 2024 & invited him to join the party as part o the group with defined responsibility. He declined. We appreciate his efforts & suggestion given to party.”

Meanwhile, Kishor himself wrote on Twitter: “I declined the generous offer of Congress to join the party as part of the EAG (Empowered Action Group) and take responsibility for the elections. In my humble opinion, more than me the party needs leadership and collective will to fix the deep rooted structural problems through transformational reforms.”

Talks have been on between Kishor and senior Congress leaders for the past few weeks about the possibility of his joining the Congress party. He has reportedly made several presentations on the proposals for new strategies for the party’s turnaround in the coming elections, especially in view of the Lok Sabha polls of 2024.
