In order to “instil moral values” among the students, Rajasthan Secondary Education Director — in a circular– ordered all government schools to read out stories of religious saints every third Saturday of the month.
A teacher or headmaster of every school will have to take the responsibility to read out the stories. The circular specified reading out biographies of prominent personalities on the first Saturday, and narrating inspiring stories with moral values for the next Saturday. A quiz competition on the third Saturday followed by a play with moral values the next Saturday was prescribed.
The state education minister Vasudev Devnani said these activities would be made mandatory in all government, CBSE-affiliated and residential schools along with welcoming private schools to participate.
