Tripura Police books Abhishek Banerjee & other top Trinamool leaders

FIRs lodged for “obstruction of police personnel” from carrying out duties.

The Tripura Police has lodged FIRs against Trinamool Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee and several other top leaders of the party for “obstruction of police personnel” from carrying out their duties. Other Trinamool leaders against whom FIRs were lodged are MP Dola Sen, Bengal minister Bratya Basu and party spokesperson Kunal Ghosh.

According to the FIR, following the arrest of 14 Trinamool leaders and workers on Sunday morning, a group of party workers led by Basu and Sen had reached Khowai police station, where Abhishek Banerjee too had reached. Police stated that the Trinamool leaders misbehaved with the Additional SP and other police personnel.

Last week, Banerjee and some Trinamool workers were attacked in separate incidents in Tripura. Following this, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee had alleged that recent attacks on her nephew, Abhishek Banerjee, who is the party’s national general secretary, were being done “on the instructions” of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
