Union Home Minister Amit Shah tests positive for COVID-19, admitted to hospital

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has tested positive for COVID-19. Reports said he was admitted to Medanta Hospital in Haryana’s Gurugram, near Delhi.

Shah himself tweeted that his health is fine but he has been admitted to the hospital “on the advice of doctors”. A thorough contact tracing is being conducted – many of those who had come in contact with the Union Home Minister have isolated themselves and are getting themselves tested for COVID-19.

Many senior leaders have either met Shah over the past few days, and according to some reports, he had also attended a cabinet meeting.

There have been over 18 lakh COVID-19 cases in the country so far with over 38,000 deaths. Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh minister Kamal Rani Varun (62) died at Lucknow’s Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences on Sunday.
