13 bank holidays in August 2022; here’s the list

Weekends, national and state holidays included in list.

The Reserve Bank of India has released its bank holidays list for August 2022 and it shows that banks will remain closed for 13 days in the month. Private and public banks will remain closed on gazette holidays and Sundays, apart from the fact that banks don’t operate on second and fourth Saturdays of every month.

Apart from these, there are several regional festivals that will be celebrated in different states and local branches of the banks will also remain closed on those days. However, online banking services will be available during those days. The list of holidays are as follows (some of these include national and/regional holidays):

August 1: Sunday/Drukpa Tshe-zi (Sikkim)

August 8: Sunday

August 8 & 9: Muharram

August 11 & 12: Raksha Bandhan

August 13: Patriot’s Day

August 14: second Saturday

August 15: Sunday/Independence Day

August 16: Parsi New Year (Shahenshahi)

August 18: Janmashtami

August 19: Shravan Vad/Krishna Jayanthi

August 20: Sri Krishna Ashtami

August 22: Sunday

August 28: Fourth Saturday

August 29: Sunday/Tithi of Srimanta Sankardeva

August 31: Samvatsari (Chaturthi Paksha)/Ganesh Chaturthi/Varasiddhi Vinayak Vrata/Vinayakar Chathurthi
