Speaking to journalists this morning, while out for morning walk in the Rabindra Sarobar area, Jagdeep Dhankar said that the chief minister should maintain a separate minister whose only job would be to criticize the Governor so that the other ministers can carry on with their work as usual. He also advised state’s junior health minister Chandrima Bhattacharya to rather concentrate on her own department rather than constantly engaging in a verbal duel with the Governor, as there were some complaints regarding the performance of her department. Dhankhar also advised Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim to tour the city by lowering the glass of the windows of his car, so that he could correctly assess the poor sanitation conditions of the city.

Bhattacharya reacted sharply, saying that Governor was not the one who could instruct her or Hakim on their performances. The chief minister is there to do so if needed, she said. She also said that the Governor was maligning the dignity of his post by trying to create a conflict with state government on an everyday basis.
