Janata Dal (Secular) chief minister candidature H.D. Kumaraswamy alleged that BJP leaders were offering Rs 100 crore to “purchase” newly-elected lawmakers of JDS to fill out the shortage in bid to cross the 112-mark.
BJP bagged 104 seats in Karnataka assembly election and needs eight more lawmakers to form the government. Kumaraswamy said BJP leaders were trying to lure the MLAs like they did in 2008. However, the JDS leader warned BJP not to repeat such horse trading this time because “I am not a Sanyasi to keep quiet and watch the proceedings.”
Kumaraswamy also asked the Karnataka Governor to look into the matter and to stop the horse trading.
Earlier in 2008, BJP fell short of clear majority and snatched at least 6 MLAs from JDS and Congress allegedly by monetary deal.
