Cyclone Asani moves towards Andhra, Odisha coast, heavy rain prediction for Bengal
Fishermen asked to not venture into the sea.
Severe cyclonic storm Asani is likely to move towards north-west till May 10 night and reach west-central Bay of Bengal off the Andhra Pradesh coast, the Indian Metrological Department (IMD) said on Tuesday. It is likely to move towards north-west Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh and Odisha costs. It may weaken gradually into a cyclonic storm in the next 24 hours.
Very heavy rainfall along with winds with 40-50 kmph is likely to prevail in parts of Andhra Pradesh till May 11 evening. In Odisha, the severe cyclonic storm will weaken into a cyclonic storm over the next 24 hours, but fishermen from the state have been asked to not venture out till May 13.
Heavy rain has been predicted for coastal Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and West Bengal for the next few days. Many parts of northeast India is also likely to get heavy rains.
