Delhi is the most polluted megacity in the world, according to air quality data released by World Health Organisation (WHO). Fourteen Indian cities are among the 20 most polluted ones in the world, it was reported.
Among the megacities, Delhi is the most polluted, while Mumbai is fourth. Kolkata does not figure in this list, but its PM 2.5 count is twice more than the permissible limit of 60micrograms/m3 – which too is rather high and worrying. Kanpur, Faridabad, Gaya, Patna, Muzaffarnagar, Jodhpur, Jaipur, Patiala, Lucknow, Varanasi, Gurgaon are all part of this list of 14.
The WHO observed in its report that nine out of ten people in the world breathe polluted air.
