Encounter in Pulwama, four soldiers and civilian killed

A fresh gunfight has ensued since last night in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district between terrorists of the Jaish-e-Mohammed outfit and the Indian army leaving four soldiers dead including an army officer. Two soldiers were  injured in the encounter. The soldiers killed belonged to the 55 Rashtriya Rifles. A civilian has also lost his life.

Late last night, a combined operation was launched by the Indian army, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the police to flush out the terrorists in hiding. Working on a tip-off, the authorities had learnt that Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists were in hiding in the Pinglan region of Pulwama as per reports. Firing is still on as it is believed that between two to three terrorists are currently based in that area.

This encounter comes a few days after the Pulwama  terror attack which has claimed the lives of over 40 CRPF men in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district.  The terror strike took place on the Srinagar-Jammu Highway on Thursday evening killing forty soldiers after a car bomb carrying 350 kg explosives dashed into it. A suicide bomber – Adil Ahmad Dar was deployed by the Jaish-e-Mohammed to carry out the attack.
