The West Bengal classes X and XII examinations under the state-run boards will be held in June 2021 this academic year. The postponement is due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The government has accepted the proposal of both the boards that conduct these examinations in West Bengal, and asked them to go ahead with their proposed changed schedule, state education minister Partha Chatterjee said today. The final schedule will be made public soon, he said. It is possible that once Madhyamik is completed in June 2021, the Higher Secondary examination will be held after that and might continue till July 2021.
The Madhyamik examination is conducted by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education and the Higher Secondary examination (Uchhya Madhyamik) is conducted by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary examination.
Chatterjee said that the children appearing for the examinations have not been able to attend school for almost the entire academic year due to the pandemic and he has accepted the proposal of the Board and the Council, and asked them to finalise the changed schedule.
