Four persons died in firing in Cooch Behar's Sitalkuchi.
West Bengal chief minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee will visit Sitalkuchi in West Bengal’s Cooch Behar district on Sunday. During the fourth phase of election today, four persons were shot dead outside a polling booth by Central paramilitary forces after clashes ensued between two groups. Trinamool Congress leaders said that the persons who died in the firing were their party’s workers.
Trinamool Congress will organise black-badge protests across the state from 4-6 PM on Sunday in protest. The fourth phase of elections are under way in 44 seats in the fourth phase. The Election Commission stopped polling at the booth in Sitalkuchi.
Mamata Banerjee demanded Home Minister Amit Shah’s resignation. “The BJP knows it won’t win so it’s resorting to bombs and violence,” she said.
