Suvendu Adhikari files nomination to contest as BJP candidate from Nandigram
He also registered himself as a voter from Nandigram from his earlier booth in Haldia.
Suvendu Adhikari, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Nandigram, filed his nomination at Haldia on Friday. He is contesting against Trinamool Congress chief and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee from this seat.
It is reported that Adhikari also registered himself as a local voter from the Nandigram constituency, from being a voter in Haldia earlier.
On Friday, Adhikari visited the Haldia sub-divisional officer’s chamber and filed his nomination papers. He was accompanied by two Central government ministers, Dharmendra Pradhan and Smriti Irani in his programmes prior to the filing of nomination. Adhikari went to several temples to offer prayers since Friday morning, offered yajna before heading off to Haldia to submit the documents and file nominations.
He is also expected to be joined by another Central government minister Babul Supriyo. Several high profile BJP leaders, Central ministers, as well as Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are expected to hold meetings in Nandigram. Even Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath may hold a meeting in Nandigram.
