The 2027 Hyundai Creta is expected to arrive with major design updates and a refreshed interior layout.

NEW DELHI: The Bengal Story Bureau: Hyundai Motor India has commenced road trials for the next-generation Creta, with heavily camouflaged test mules spotted recently on public roads. The 2027 iteration of the popular compact sports utility vehicle is expected to feature significant exterior redesigns and interior upgrades as the automaker looks to maintain its dominance in a highly competitive segment.

While the current generation recently received a mid-life update, the spy images suggest that Hyundai is already advancing the development of the completely overhauled model. Industry watchers anticipate the new vehicle will make its global debut in late 2026 before entering the domestic market in early 2027.

Redesigned Exterior and Lighting

Despite the heavy camouflage on the test mules, the spy shots reveal a heavily revised front fascia. The 2027 model appears to sport a new split-headlamp setup with an updated LED daytime running light signature and a wider, more aggressive front grille.

The side profile retains the familiar Creta silhouette but introduces newly designed dual-tone alloy wheels and tweaked wheel arches. At the rear, the vehicle seems to feature connected LED taillights and a redesigned bumper, aligning with Hyundai’s evolving global design language.

Cabin Upgrades and Safety Features

Inside the cabin, buyers can expect a more premium layout. Automotive analysts suggest the 2027 Creta will feature a floating twin-screen setup, incorporating a larger touchscreen infotainment system and a high-resolution fully digital instrument cluster.

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems Level 2, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats and dual-zone climate control are expected to be carried forward and potentially upgraded. Hyundai is also likely to introduce new interior colour themes and improved soft-touch materials across the dashboard and door panels.

Engine Options and Rivals

Under the hood, the upcoming Hyundai Creta is expected to retain its current range of proven powertrains. The lineup will likely continue to offer the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol unit and the 1.5-litre diesel engine.

Transmission choices will remain extensive, offering a six-speed manual gearbox, an intelligent variable transmission, a torque converter automatic and a dual-clutch automatic unit, depending on the engine selected. Once launched, the 2027 Creta will renew its rivalry with the Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Honda Elevate, and the upcoming Nissan Tekton and Tata Sierra.
