Centre ready to talk to Shaheen Bagh protesters “in structured form”

Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Saturday said that the Central government is ready to talk to the Shaheen Bagh protesters. Hundreds of protesters, mainly women, are on a sit-in protest at Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh to protest the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the proposed National Register of Citizens (NRC).

The minister tweeted that the “Government is ready to talk to protesters of Shaheen Bagh but then it should be in a structured form and the Narendra Modi government is ready to communicate with them and clear all their doubts they have against CAA”.

Since December 15, 2019, hundreds of protesters, mostly women, are in a sit in protest at Shaheen Bagh to protest the CAA and the proposed NRC. Many elderly women are also part of the protest and have said that they are looking to discuss the matter with Narendra Modi if he agreed to listen to them. The protesters have been demanding a repeal of the CAA.
