The Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha (ABHM) has requested the Central government to feature Vinayak Damodar Savarkar’s image on the currency replacing Mahatma Gandhi’s picture. The organisation has also demanded Bharat Ratna for Savarkar.
According to ABHM, Savaskar played an important role in India’s freedom movement. So, it will be justifiable to use his image in the currency. ABHM chief Swami Chakrapani demanded “Bharat Ratna” for the social reformer. Savarkar had coined the term “Hindutva”.
