Three days after a 58-year-old woman reportedly died due to starvation in Jharkhand’s Giridh, the state government denied such claims citing the woman’s bank account and medical report. It said the deceased woman had Rs 2,375 in her bank.
However, the woman’s family said there was no food in the house at least three days before Savitri Devi died. But the Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das’s office, mentioning the death of the woman unfortunate, stated oppositions should not add political colour into this as the inquiry “clearly” suggested the starvation did not cause the death. Meanwhile, the government was unsure why the family did not have a ration card.
