A father-son duo from Manipur’s Imphal has been recycling plastic waste in their locality in a bid to make pollution in the area a thing of the past.
Sadokpam Itombi Singh and his father Sadopam Gunakantra collected used plastic bottles and other plastic wastes from the area and sent them to Delhi and Guwahati for recycling since there was no recycling plant in Imphal. In 2007, they set up their own company, S. J. Plastic, and installed new machines three years later, the ANI reported.
Now the waste plastic bottles are producing several domestic items like brand new plastic pipes, plastic flowers for decoration and several other products for everyday use.

Currently, the company recycles 30 different types of plastic waste among as many as 120 varieties found in Manipur. The rest are being sent to Delhi and Guwahati after compression.
