The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) might invite Congress president Rahul Gandhi to its event in New Delhi next month.
This was reported by NDTV, adding that the said programme is a lecture series to be held at Vigyan Bhawan between September 17 and 19. The report added that several other opposition leaders including Sitaram Yechury were also likely to be invited as the RSS wanted people from different ideologies to be present in their programmes.
In June this year, former President Pranab Mukherjee, a veteran Congress leader, attended an RSS programme in Nagpur, upsetting the senior leadership. Senior Congress leaders said this as much, and the Congress’ official Twitter handle posted a video titled “RSS for Dummies”, mocking the saffron organisation for colluding with the British in the pre-Independence days.
Last week, the Congress president equated the RSS with Muslim Brotherhood while speaking at an event in London, prompting the BJP to call him immature and demanded an apology from him.
