SSC: 24,000 teachers to be appointed in Bengal, more later

The Bengal government will appoint over 24,000 primary and upper primary teachers before the Durga Puja this year. Another 7,000 teachers will be appointed after the Pujas.

West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee made the announcement at Nabanna on Monday. The list will be published in the School Service Commission website later today.

“Before Pujas, there will be appointment of 14,000 upper primary teachers, and another 10,000 primary teachers,” Banerjee said, adding that 7,000 more teachers will be appointed after the Pujas. She added that the matter was delayed due to an ongoing court case. Banerjee also said that teachers will be appointed on the basis of merit and no one needs to worry or plead for appointment.
