Want to be a politician? Stay “single”, says BJP minister

Despite Prime Minister Narendra Modi warning BJP leaders not to shoot from the hip, Energy and New & Renewable Energy minister in the BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh, Paras Chandra Jain, said that only way to achieve a successful career in politics is to remain single.

At an event in Madhya Pradesh’s Khandwa, the minister advised that people were unable to focus only on politics once they got married and started worrying about the family. After the birth of children, the married people kept worrying about their children’s marriage. “But if you do not get married, you can think about your country all the time,” he said.

He mentioned Prime Minster Narendra Modi in this context, and said that the PM “has single-handedly increased the respect of our country abroad.”

Jain, himself a “married” person though, has been accused of providing illegal favour to a firm owned by his daughter Swati Jain and daughter-in-law Puja Jain. However, the minister denied the allegations.
